United Arab Emirates and Qatar Certificate of Good Conduct and Police Clearances required in Canada

May 8th, 2015

In order to secure employment in Canada, to be eligible for volunteer work, or to apply to Immigration and Citizenship Canada for temporary or permanent residency or work permits, Citizens and Residents of the United Arab Emirates (UAE) and Qatar are required to submit a Police Clearance check.

Police Check Process

The Police Check process is completed through the police department in UAE or Qatar, along with the Canadian location of the Embassy of your Country. If you are a UAE or Qatari Citizen but do not currently reside there, or if you have lived in either UAE or Qatar for more than six months, you must either attend in person at the police department in UAE or Qatar or appoint a power of attorney to attend on your behalf. Among other items, you will need to provide a letter explaining your requirement for a Police Clearance, along with current and former passports and other supporting documentation.

One very important step in securing this clearance is the completion of fingerprinting at an authorized service provider and having those fingerprints notarized by a Notary Public or Commissioner for Taking Affidavits. A Notarial signature and stamp show the governmental authorities that the fingerprints are, in fact, those of the person applying for the police check and that the identification of the applicant has been verified. Once notarized, the notarial signature has to be authenticated by the Ministry of Government Services. The entire package must then be legalized by the appropriate Consulate. It can seem like a complicated process, but we can simplify it by handling the legwork for you. Red Seal Notary can be your one-stop shop for fingerprinting, notarization, authentication, and legalization.

Ink and Roll Fingerprinting

In order to process your fingerprints, please bring with you two pieces of valid, government-issued identification, one of which must have a photo, such a Passport or Driver’s License. Health Cards and SIN Cards cannot be used.
