We offer Criminal Name Index Checks (also known as criminal background checks) at select locations in Toronto and the GTA.
The Criminal Name Index Check (CNIC) is conducted by comparing your name and date of birth to information contained in the Canadian Police Information Centre Identification Data Bank. If there is no match, the result will indicate no match. If there is a potential match, you will be advised to have your fingerprints taken.
1. Identification
You must provide two pieces of non-expired identification, one of which must be government-issued, bearing your name, date of birth, signature and photo.

Please Note: Health Cards and Social Insurance Number (SIN) cards are not acceptable.
2. Your places of residence within the past five years
If you have moved within the past five years, you will need to provide the addresses of where you have lived.
3. Has a third party requested your results?
If you would like your fingerprinting results submitted to a third party, please provide their fax number. Your original police clearance certificate will be mailed directly to you at the address you provide on your CNIC application form.
4. What are your fees?
The fee for a Criminal Name Index Check is 49.00 + HST.
