When you visit a Red Seal Notary representative in Winnipeg, you will be asked to present at least one piece of non-expired, government-issued photo ID.
This can be a challenge for clients who don’t drive and don’t have other valid identification.
Fortunately, if you live in Winnipeg, there is another alternative: the Manitoba Identification Card.
According to Manitoba Public Insurance, the first thing you need to do is read the “Manitoba Identification Card” brochure to ensure you understand what is involved.
You will need to present documents that prove your date of birth, your full legal name, and your signature. You will also need to provide a photograph, as well as proof of your Manitoba residency and permanent address.
Please see the “Establishing Your Identity” brochure for a list of documents that may be used to establish your identity for a Manitoba Identification Card.
In exceptional cases, Manitoba Public Insurance may accept a completed Guarantor Declaration, instead, if you are unable to provide an acceptable document to prove your photograph, signature, or residency.
Once you are approved, your card will be mailed to you within 10 business days.
