Ontario Kinesiologists: Red Seal Notary Conducts Criminal Name Index Checks

In order to legally practice kinesiology in Ontario, you must be registered with the College of Kinesiologists of Ontario.

Only registered kinesiologists may use the designation R.Kin., which assures the public you have met the entry-to-practice requirements. It is an offence to call yourself a kinesiologist or to use the designation R.Kin before you have been issued a certificate of registration from the College.

Criminal Name Index Checks

When applying for your certificate of registration, you will be asked to submit a number of supporting documents.

One such document is the original or notarized copy (certified true copy) of a Canadian Police Information Centre (CPIC) Criminal Record Synopsis, also known as a CPIC report, criminal name index check or criminal background check.

The report must show that a search was conducted on all of the names you are currently using or have ever used, such as the name on your application form, your name at birth, your maiden name or any other former names.

You may wish to request two copies of your CPIC report: one for submission to the College and one for your own records. The College will not accept photocopies, faxed or scanned copies of the report.

For registration purposes, the report is valid for six months from the date it is issued.
